Historic Preservation Review Commission To Discuss Chinese Camp Damage

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The destruction caused by the TCU September Lightning Complex Fire will be the focus of next week’s Tuolumne County Historic Preservation Review Commission meeting.

TCHPRC is a group of local stakeholders and experts who often review projects impacting historic sites and give advice on issues related to preserving the county’s heritage and history. They also provide technical expertise to county staff on cultural resource issues.

The only item of new business on next week’s meeting agenda is to discuss the impacts on historic sites caused by the fire. No proposed actions are on the agenda.

The meeting is open to the public and will begin at 4 pm on Monday, October 6, in the Community Development Department Conference Room on the 4th floor at 48 Yaney Avenue in Sonora.

Fire officials estimate that around 90 structures (50 homes) were destroyed by the TCU September Lightning Complex fire, with most of the damage around Chinese Camp.
