Sonora Economic Development Workshop Planned During Second Saturday Event

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The City of Sonora is inviting residents, business owners, families, and visitors to participate in an Economic Development Strategy Community Input Workshop.

It will be held during the monthly second Saturday event, December 13, from 5 -7pm. It will be in front of 81 South Washington Street.

The workshop is designed to introduce the City’s Economic Development Strategy, explain what community members can expect from the strategy and its implementation process, and gather feedback on four key components of the plan. Participants will be able to voice their thoughts, react to ideas, and vote on the concepts they feel are most important for Sonora’s future.

Community Development Director, Tyler Summersett, says, “We want this strategy to reflect the real priorities of the people who live, work, and spend time in Sonora. This workshop is a chance to stop by, learn what we are working on, and tell us what you think should come next.”

The city reports that the Economic Development Strategy is being developed as a toolkit to guide how the city supports and strengthens its local economy over the coming years. It is intended to provide clear direction for how Sonora attracts and retains businesses, supports downtown activity, and aligns economic development decisions with community priorities.

At the workshop, community members can stop by anytime between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. to learn more about the strategy and help address four major components. The City will provide displays and simple, easy-to-read materials that explain each component and outline possible directions for Sonora’s economic future.

Feedback will help the City understand which ideas have the strongest community backing and where there may be differing perspectives that need more discussion.
